At Designing with Nature we have seen a increase of calls the last month as people are trying to decide how to handle our winter weather and want to start planning for that summer yard project.
With the warm winter your yards can be worked on now as the winter frost for the most part are gone in the Carson Valley. As we wrote last week Pre-emergent need to go down if they have not already. We are already seeing plants bud and weeds start to appear in rock beds around town.
Couple tips for the coming two weekends:
- Clean-up - Last fall's leaves that have accumulated under your shrubs, windblown branches, soil deposits at the end of your lawn etc... Before you get started on new projects take inventory of what your plants and yard look like after winter. If you have not started or been watering plants this winter, start now. Most plants are already in drought conditions and need extra water this spring.
- Check your Fences and Gates: - Winter wind and upcoming spring winds often loosen the bards on our fences around town. Check that the nails are holding , the Fence planks are still whole and determine if a fresh coat of stain is needed this summer.
- Start Dreaming of your next project or upgrade you would like to see. With Home values stabilizing in the Valley we are seeing an increase of home owners that are starting to add value again by upgrading landscaping, and adding on back yard features such as Waterfalls, Gazebos, Rock features and Fire Pits. It all starts with a dream and a plan.
At Designing with Nature we hope that this spring and summer you find time to enjoy your landscaping and yard projects.
